Ask Tracey Andersen if she thinks Nelson is a great place to live and work and she’ll rattle off a list of compelling reasons why the region “ticks all the boxes”.

She says apart from being known as the sunniest region in New Zealand, the Nelson area has a lot to offer. More people are discovering its charms and it’s a great area to run a business and enjoy an unrivalled lifestyle.

Tracey is part of a successful CrestClean franchise involving her sisters, Kathleen Puha, and Julie Ruawai, and Julie’s partner Mangisi Kaho.

Owning a CrestClean franchise allows the family members plenty of time to spend on their other businesses interests, says Tracey. As the cleaning work is carried out in the evenings, they can focus on running Waka Whenua Ltd and Puha Pesto in the daytime.

Tracey says the appeal of joining CrestClean was it offers a regular income with no stress. “Everything is taken care of and you get paid twice a month. It allows us the flexibility to do other things.”

But importantly the work itself also brings a strong feeling of a job well done for their cleaning customers, says Tracey.  “I am very proud to wear my CrestClean uniform. We are a quality cleaning service and we all take a real pride in what we do.”

Tracey says the cleaning industry offers great opportunities for people who want the independence of having their own business in one of New Zealand’s most scenic areas.

“The Nelson area is so diverse. We are not a closed-minded city and culturally and artistically we have a lot to offer here.

“We also have the most moderate climate and we’re known to be the sunshine capital of the country. In the winter you can expect frosty mornings but then clear blue skies. It doesn’t snow here.”

She says more people than ever are putting down roots in the Nelson area. “We are still a horticultural area and since the early ‘50s people have been flocking here from all around the world to do seasonal work but now more people are staying here.”

Barbara de Vries, CrestClean’s Nelson Regional Manager, says the company has immediate start opportunities. CrestClean’s Move to the Regions programme offers $3,000 towards relocation costs for anyone relocating to Nelson or Blenheim to purchase a cleaning franchise.

“We can offer excellent earnings and the opportunity for people to create a financial platform to reach their goals,” says Barbara.

“Many of our franchise owners have purchased a home and their business gives them financial security for the future.”
