Master Cleaners Training Institute Receives Careerforce Validation

CrestClean franchisees may now receive NZQA credits by successfully completing training courses and assessments at Master Cleaners Training Institute.

The NZQA-accredited Industry Training Organisation, Careerforce, has validated the training and assessment programme used by CrestClean to prepare our personnel for work in the commercial cleaning industry.

The validation was a result of Careerforce’s review of training and educational material used by Master Cleaners Training Institute and already approved by the British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc). It now also meets the requirements of Careerforce validation for 36 credits toward the NZQA National Certificate in Cleaning and Caretaking.

“The Careerforce validation gives Master Cleaners Training Institute even more merit in the industry and means that businesses can have even greater confidence that the personnel working in their buildings and offices have been fully trained and are providing quality cleaning services that meet the approved standards,” says CrestClean’s Managing Director Grant McLauchlan.

CrestClean established Master Cleaners Training Institute in early 2013 in order to provide more practical, task-based training courses and assessments for the commercial cleaning industry. In its first year of operation, it achieved accreditation by BICSc. The popular training modules and assessments in the Cleaning Professionals Skills Suite attended by CrestClean franchisees now also meet NZQA unit standards in cleaning and caretaking.

“The only way is up,” says Adam Hodge, CEO of Master Cleaners Training Institute, who began the process to achieve Careerforce validation several months ago. “The investment in quality training reaps great rewards as it ensures the consistency that customers appreciate and safeguards a business’s reputation.”

“Last year, over 700 people attended some form of training at Master Cleaners and this year, all of our numbers are up 25, 30, over 50 percent in some courses,” he adds. “We’ve added a new course for Pure Water Window Cleaning and we now have special training for skilled and experienced CrestClean franchisees who want to qualify as Assessors and Regional Trainers, which helps to spread their wealth of knowledge throughout New Zealand.”

To acquire workplace qualification validation, Master Cleaners Training Institute demonstrated that it provides quality education for students that meets the requirements as set out in the qualification and the Education Act 1989.

Master Cleaners Training Institute and Careerforce will continue working together to achieve the required 45 credits.

“Once we establish the nine additional course credits, we will then be able to issue a second certificate, which would be unique in New Zealand,” says Adam. “What we do now is unique in New Zealand, but if we were able to give both certificates, that would be unique everywhere.”

“My original goal was to get validation of our existing programme by end of September,” he adds. “I hope to have 45 credits for the Level 2 certificate by the end of January 2015.”
