Adip and Neelam celebrate five years of building the life they love

Five years ago, Adip and Neelam Chand took a chance on business ownership. Today, the North Harbour franchise owners are celebrating five years with CrestClean, having built a loyal customer base, purchased their first home, and created a lifestyle that allows more time with their family.
North Harbour Regional Manager Neil Kumar says it has been rewarding to watch the couple grow over the years.
“They’re a lovely, honest, and very hard-working couple,” says Neil.
When Adip and Neelam first started their franchise, there was plenty to learn. Like any new business owners, they spent time finding their feet and getting to know their customers.
Over time, those customer relationships became one of the most rewarding parts of the job.
“Building relationships with our customers has helped us provide better customer service.”
Before joining CrestClean, Neelam worked in the printing industry, and the couple had plans to settle in Sydney. They spent almost nine months there but eventually realised they missed New Zealand and its more relaxed lifestyle… and milder climate.
Not long after returning home, they discovered they were expecting their first child and naturally began thinking about what they wanted their future to look like. Around the same time, a friend suggested they look into CrestClean, and the timing felt right.
Today, Neelam and Adip have a full customer base, with many customers who have stayed with them since their very first days in business. Neelam says one of the things she values most about CrestClean is the professionalism of the brand.
Neelam takes pride in wearing the CrestClean uniform and says customers often comment on the professional image it creates.
“We have very good customers,” she says.
The financial benefits have also been significant. Just two years after starting their business, Neelam and Adip reached a major milestone when they bought their first home.
While Neelam manages the cleaning business, Adip operates his courier business during the day before joining her on cleaning sites in the evenings. It makes for busy days, but the arrangement has allowed the couple to successfully balance work, family, and business ownership.
Although they would like to grow their business further in the future, right now they are enjoying the balance they have created and the extra time they can spend with their son.
“We are happy, and we really love working for CrestClean.”
For Neelam, one of the biggest benefits of owning their own business is the flexibility it provides. If family life gets busy or plans change, they can adjust their schedule to suit.
“I don’t feel under pressure at all. I can relax at work — there is no one there to judge me,” she says.
“I could do an 8-to-5 job, but this is better. I’m working for myself and I love what I’m doing. I’m happy.”
Five years on, Adip and Neelam show that success grows steadily through hard work and strong customer relationships. We look forward to seeing what the next five years has in store for them.
