Resham & Gurjit celebrate 20 years with CrestClean!
Resham Singh grew up on a pineapple farm in Fiji — his father, who is in his 80s, still lives on the farm and Resham is fortunate to visit him a couple of times a year.
But, having left Fiji 20 years ago, Resham now lives a very different life.
He and his family now reside in New Zealand’s biggest and busiest city, where he owns two properties and operates a successful cleaning business with his wife Gurjit.
The Auckland Central franchisees recently celebrated 20 years of business ownership with CrestClean and, in recognition of the impressive milestone, they were presented with a Long Service Award, by one of their longest-standing customers, Vista Group.
“I’m very proud, 20 years is a long time!” says Resham.
The couple moved to New Zealand in 2002 with very little to their name, and started a small CrestClean franchise soon after — they have since grown their business to six times its original size.
Resham is also an Induction and Module 1 Trainer for CrestClean’s Master Cleaners Training Institute and a qualified Carpet Cleaning and Hard Floor Care Specialist.
“It was hard in Fiji. There was a coup and the government changed. It wasn’t safe, so we migrated to New Zealand, to a safe place. We were thinking about our children and their future. They were only 7 and 9 at the time,” he recalls.
“Both our children have since graduated with a university degree and are doing well in their respected careers.”
Resham says, he still enjoys the work, even after 20 years: “It’s good for me. I have a lot of experience and I like to share that experience.”
He is proud that almost half of his customers have been with him for more than 15 years, some since he started.
Vista Group is one of them, having been a customer for 17 years.
“We are hugely grateful for the excellent service Resham has provided us over those 17 years. Resham and his team are always reliable, ensuring our premises are serviced to a high standard,” says Vista Group CEO Kimbal Riley.
“We have a busy social calendar where staff events may run into the time. Resham and his team are servicing our premises and they have adapted to these changes without issue.
“From a warm smile in person, to his tone on the phone, Resham has always been a kind friendly individual. If there is a change of plans or an issue, he takes the time to write, phone or drop in in-person to explain and we have appreciated the timely, informative manner in which this is communicated.
