High standards maintained as vehicles scrutinised

CrestClean business owners in Auckland who attended an audit of their vehicles were applauded for maintaining high standards of compliance.

Dozens of vehicles were inspected in the wide-ranging checks, which also covered equipment and materials used by the franchised owner-operators.

Ian Noon, CrestClean’s Health Safety and Wellbeing leader, says it’s noteworthy that many business owners have invested in new vehicles.

“It’s a sign that they take their business very seriously and having a modern vehicle means our people are as safe as possible.

“It was very pleasing to see a very high level of compliance and the vehicles were in good condition.”

Also part of the CrestClean team carrying out the audits was Liezl Foxcroft, General Manager Training, Master Cleaners Training Institute.

She was also impressed with how the vehicles were presented for inspection. “Franchisees are taking a real pride in their vehicles, with many having custom shelving fitted to enable them to safely transport their equipment and chemicals.”

The audits are held throughout the country to ensure the same high standards are maintained wherever CrestClean operates. Vehicles must meet strict compliance guidelines as part of the company’s Health, Safety and Environmental Management System. It’s a thorough process.

But the event was also a chance to mix and mingle, says Liezl. “Vehicle audits are always a great opportunity for franchisees to show off their new vehicles and have a quick chat with other franchise owners.

“It is also an opportunity for team bonding, we get managers from other areas of the business and different regions assisting to get through all the hundreds of vehicle audits on the day.”

The checks are also essential for maintaining CrestClean’s Environmental Choice NZ certification.

Cleaning chemicals are examined to ensure they are correctly labelled and have the corresponding material safety data sheets, which are required to be carried in vehicles. Electrical equipment is also scrutinised to see if it has a current test and tag and is fit for purpose.

The extensive auditing process includes ensuring franchise owners and their employees have the correct documentation and it is up to date. ID badges are examined along with uniforms and paperwork checked to ensure their businesses are compliant.
