Our customer
West Auckland Hospice provides specialist palliative care in a warm, homely environment for patients and their families. With four inpatient beds, the hospice is designed to feel like a true home away from home, where comfort, dignity, and compassion are at the centre of every interaction.
Since 2015, CrestClean has been proud to support West Auckland Hospice in maintaining a clean and safe environment that supports the care they provide.
The challenge
Maintaining consistent, high-quality cleaning in a hospice environment requires more than standard commercial cleaning. The inpatient unit and office spaces must be kept to strict hygiene standards while also remaining calm, respectful, and unobtrusive for patients and families.
Before CrestClean came on board, the hospice experienced inconsistency in cleaning standards, creating challenges in maintaining the level of reliability they required. Any cleaning service also needed to be highly sensitive to the nature of hospice care.
Services and solutions provided
CrestClean provides cleaning services to West Auckland Hospice seven days a week. The site is cared for by franchise owners Edwin Prakash and Ashna Devi during the weekdays, and Arlene and Eldon Olsen on weekends.
The cleaning teams at West Auckland Hospice:
Operate under CrestClean’s HealthClean® system, following a specialised healthcare cleaning programme designed to meet strict Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) standards
Follow structured cleaning processes and detailed protocols to ensure consistent, high-quality results
Complete regular quality checks and auditing to maintain ongoing performance standards
Apply IPC practices learned through hands-on training with Auckland West trainer Arishma Chand, ensuring procedures are tailored to hospice requirements
Maintain a respectful, low-disruption presence while working in patient and family areas
Time cleaning activities carefully around hospice schedules, patients, and visitors
Work closely with hospice staff to support day-to-day operational needs
Respond promptly and professionally to feedback or additional cleaning requests
“Sometimes they need to work around patients and families, so they have to be very accommodating. They’re very respectful and careful about when to enter a room.”
Blanka Schuster Chief Operating Officer, West Auckland Hospice
